DAY 1 Walk along the ridge to the viewpoint Saxer Lücke
We meet in a cozy Zurich coffee shop, get acquainted, have breakfast and discuss plans for the week.
Today we will take one of the most famous ridge hikes in Switzerland, which will open up epic views of green valleys, cozy alpine villages and white mountain peaks. This route is called Saxer Lücke and is a favorite among the Swiss. It became famous due to the incredible rock, more like a shark fin, sharply cutting into the endless blue sky. Saxer Lücke is an easy, but very beautiful trail that will allow you to not only see all possible landscapes, but will also present new, breathtaking views of mountain ranges, lakes and valleys time after time.
At the end of the route, we will visit a local mountain hut, which serves the freshest meat and delicious local dishes. Here you can try Swiss beer, cider and wine, as well as desserts, which are lovingly prepared by the owner of the establishment - a nice elderly woman who grew up in these mountains.
In the evening we move to our alpine atmospheric house with a view of the Reichenbach Falls, where we will spend most of the nights.
DAY 2 Two magnificent valleys: Rosenlaui and Lauterbrunnen (valley of 70 waterfalls)
On this day, we will go high into the mountains, where the water has frozen in an eternally blue mass of ice.
Glacier Gorge Rosenlaui is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Rosenlaui Valley is famous not only for its glaciers and mountain cirques, it is rich in incredible natural views that Instagram is full of. You want to take pictures of this place all the time, stopping at every turn.
We will devote several hours to this place. We will enjoy the beauty, walk through green meadows, see those very Alpine cows from the Milka chocolate advert, and will also be able to buy fresh cheese and milk from local farmers.
Lauterbrunnen
After a delicious lunch in a restaurant with a panoramic view of the mountains, we will go to the city that once captured the heart of Tolkien - Lauterbrunnen (it is also called the valley of 70 waterfalls). It was here that the writer came up with the idea of what the city of elves - Rivendell - would look like. We will spend the rest of the day in the valley.
We will be able to leisurely drink coffee with dessert in one of the cozy restaurants of this Alpine village. We will visit the impressive Trummelbachfelle waterfall - powerful and noisy, flying from a great height in a rocky grotto hidden from view.
In Lauterbrunnen you will have free time. We will tell you where you can go and what to see, perhaps you decide to just walk along the valley, enjoying its leisurely and fabulous atmosphere, or perhaps go up on one of the funiculars and see the high-mountain villages.
We believe that a trip to Lauterbrunnen is the calling card of Switzerland, so you will have enough time to try to understand this place.
DAY 3 Turquoise of Oeschinensee
We wake up early in the morning and head to Kandersteg.
The lake is located at an altitude of 1600 meters, surrounded by steep cliffs, the snowy peaks of which are reflected in the turquoise mirror of the water, it seems painted. Since 2007, Oeschinensee has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The route along the lake is incredibly beautiful: mountain paths, cliffs, steep slopes and coniferous forests - all this leaves an unforgettable impression.
At the end of the route, everyone can try real fresh alpine milk :) We will have dinner on the shore of the lake. The bravest will be able to swim.
In the evening we will return to our house, where we can grill on our cool terrace.
DAY 4 Brienz-rothorn-bahn
Today you will travel on an old steam train high into the mountains, where your eyes will see a panorama of many snowy peaks: two-thousanders and four-thousanders. This place makes your heart skip a beat, it is so beautiful there. If the sky is clear, we will see the famous Swiss peaks - Jungfrau and Eiger.
At the station there is a cozy restaurant with a panoramic view, where we can drink a cup of coffee with a fresh croissant and relax a little before an interesting mountain hike. On this day, we will take a picturesque hike along the Brienz ridge, which will open up the real Swiss Alps to you. We will walk along a winding path, go down rocky paths, take lots of photos, see alpine cows, listen to the wind and the ringing of bells, all the way we will be accompanied by a view of a turquoise mountain lake and snowy peaks. After lunch, we will return back to the city of Brienz.
At the end of the active hike, you can swim in the cool water of a turquoise alpine lake and try local cuisine in one of the restaurants on the shore.
Difficulty level: Medium Distance: 10 km
DAY 5 Grindelwald - the home of four-thousanders
This day we will dedicate to the most Alpine village of Switzerland, known as the "glacier village". Grindelwald is not just a settlement in a picturesque valley - this is the very picture we usually imagine when discussing Switzerland. Ideal green hills, Alpine cows peacefully grazing in the meadows, beautiful hundred-year-old trees, neat houses, high mountains and magnificent glaciers.
The valley stretches from west to east for 16 km, through the river Lütschinen. In the south, Grindelwald borders the Fiescherhorn and Eiger massifs, in the west - the Kleine Scheidegg Pass and the Tschuggen and Männlichen mountains, in the north - the Faulhorn and Schwarzhorn ridges, and in the east - the Große Scheidegg Pass and the Wetterhorn and Schreckhorn peaks.
We will climb to the Clift Walk observation deck, which offers the most breathtaking views of the four-thousand, then we will have a short hike to Lake Planalpsee, in whose water surface, in clear weather, the white peaks of the Eiger and Wetterhorn are reflected
DAY 6 Riffelsee и Matterhorn
Today we will have one of the most beautiful hikes in Switzerland - a hike at the foot of the Matterhorn and the Gornergrad mountain station. Zermatt is a car-free town, local authorities do everything to preserve the cleanest mountain air in this area. We will leave the car in the parking lot in the town of Täsch and head to the alma mater of mountaineering by train. We will spend the whole day in this eco-friendly place. Zermatt will be our starting point for the ascent to the foot of the Matterhorn, namely, to Lake Riffelsee.
This is one of our favorite places in Switzerland, we advise you to take a Tableron chocolate bar with you to take a photo against the backdrop of the famous mountain depicted on its wrapper)
We hope that the weather will be windless and we will be able to take a perfect photo with the reflection of the Matterhorn.
DAY 7 Lake Geneva and Geneva
At the end of our journey, we will stop in the elegant Geneva, which enchants with its atmosphere and amazing landscapes. You will have the opportunity to walk along the embankment to enjoy the view of the crystal-clear waters of Lake Geneva, which reflects the mountain peaks and majestic buildings. This is a place where the city and nature harmoniously intertwine, evoking a special feeling of peace and inspiration. Walking along the most beautiful streets of Geneva, you will definitely feel its unique charm and, perhaps, want to come back here again.
