Our adventure begins
We meet in a cozy café in Ljubljana, have breakfast, drink coffee, and get to know the group. We’ll talk through the plans ahead and get ready to fall in love with incredible Slovenia.
Our tour begins in the morning, so you’ll need to arrive in Ljubljana the day before. We can help arrange accommodation for one night if needed.
After breakfast we set off to explore the country, and our first stop is Predjama Castle. This fortress, literally merged with the rock, is one of the most unusual castles in Slovenia. It was built right at the entrance to a large cave — and in the Slovenian Karst region there are many of them. That’s where its name comes from: a castle “in front of the cave” — Predjama.
It’s a unique structure that not only looks impressive but also has remarkable architectural features. At first glance it seems the castle was built against a vertical cliff, using it as natural protection. That’s true — with one important detail: the rock isn’t just protection, it actually forms part of the castle’s walls. Inside the cliff there is also an extensive cave system that provided secret passages and additional entrances and exits. Predjama Castle is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest cave castle in the world.
After lunch at a local atmospheric restaurant, we continue our journey. Time to recall The Lord of the Rings and the Mines of Moria (Khazad-dûm) — the underground kingdom of the dwarves — because we’re heading for a walk through some truly spectacular caves.
The Škocjan Caves are among the most beautiful underground systems in Slovenia and have been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1986. The cave complex includes the deepest underground canyon in Europe, twenty-six waterfalls, and countless unique karst formations. The scale of the caves is breathtaking. The guided walk takes about an hour and a half and leaves a lasting impression. It feels like stepping into a fantasy novel — the world becomes unreal, and it almost seems as if goblins or orcs might appear from behind the rocks at any moment.
In the evening we move closer to the sea. After such a full day, sleep will definitely come easy.
The sea and ancient cities of Italy.
Today we visit Piran, whose old town is one of the best-preserved historic centers on the entire Adriatic — a true jewel of Venetian architecture. Piran has a remarkable atmosphere: it feels like stepping into another century, into a lively Italian coastal town where life hums everywhere. Small fishing boats head out into open water, merchants carry fabrics and spices, and the winding streets lead you through a maze to tiny restaurants serving the freshest fish and local wine.
We’ll have time to swim, wander through souvenir shops, ceramics and art boutiques, enjoy some gelato, and simply breathe in the sea air.
For lunch we’ll have fresh fish or delicious pasta, then head to Koper, another beautiful seaside town with a similar salty, slightly pirate-like vibe.
We stroll, take photos, and enjoy this unexpected extension of summer.
In the evening we drive inland, deeper into Slovenia.
The Soča River - a thousand shades of blue and azure
This unreal turquoise river is born in the Alps and seems to glow from within. The water here is crystal clear, cold, and alive — the Soča is considered one of the most photogenic rivers in Europe.
There will be an option to go rafting: safe but truly впечатляющий — an ideal way to experience the river from the inside and see the canyons, cliffs, and shades of water you can’t see from the shore. For those who prefer to stay on land, there are scenic walks along the river, suspension bridges, and viewpoints where you simply want to stand still and take it all in.
Afterward, we’ll drive through the Soča Valley, stopping at viewpoints and lakes — without rushing, following the mood of the day, with pauses for photos and coffee. We’ll also visit local vineyards set among rolling hills, taste regional wines and local products, and discover new flavors of Slovenia.
By evening we’ll move closer to Triglav National Park, check in, and rest before the upcoming days in the mountains.
Lake Day
Why it’s called that, we’ll talk about separately :)
Lake Bohinj lies in the very heart of Triglav National Park, one of the oldest national parks in Europe. It’s the largest natural lake in Slovenia, surrounded by dramatic, seemingly unreachable mountain peaks. We’ll walk along the shore, take in the pristine beauty and stillness of this place, and enjoy a coffee with a view of the lake.
By lunchtime we’ll drive to the town of Bled, set on the shores of its famous lake.
One of the most iconic and beautiful places in Slovenia is, of course, Lake Bled. We’ll spend the entire second half of the day here — exploring the surroundings, taking beautiful photos, and soaking in the magic of this natural wonder. If you’d like, you can rent a small boat and row out to the island in the middle of the lake.
There will be time to wander, enjoy the views, have dinner, and watch the sunset.
In the evening we head to our cozy apartments to rest.
Mountains
We’ll make our way up to Velika Planina, a high alpine plateau with wide-open panoramas and traditional shepherd huts that feel as if time has stood still. The gentle beauty of the Julian Alps here deserves a slow, unhurried rhythm.
We’ll walk along trails through alpine meadows, making plenty of stops for photos, and enjoy a small picnic or coffee with a view. With a bit of luck, we might see cows grazing and glimpse shepherd life in its natural setting. This day is all about calm beauty and space.
After lunch in a mountain hut, we’ll drive back toward Ljubljana, where our beautiful and warm journey comes to an end.
