Touch the dream

We know that for many mountain lovers, Everest is an unattainable dream, and there is a common belief that only a select few can get close to it. Despite advancements in technology and the development of more reliable and comfortable gear, reaching the summit remains a life-threatening challenge. But does that mean we can’t get as close as possible to our dream?

Together, we will follow part of the same path that climbers have been taking for over half a century on their way to the highest peak on Earth. We will stay in the same mountain lodges, taste the same food, meet the locals, and immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding mountains. We will visit the Everest Base Camp, the starting point for those attempting the ascent, and feel the spirit of this legendary place. And, of course, we will see Everest itself.

But most importantly, after this journey, we will no longer just be dreamers—we will be explorers.

PROGRAM
1 DAY. Kathmandu
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal!
This is the arrival day and the gathering of our team.
We will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where you can rest after your long flight. If you feel like it, you can explore the city.

Kathmandu is vast, bustling, and lively, with numerous cultural and historical landmarks. Navigating it for the first time can be quite overwhelming! So today, you can simply relax, wander through the streets, soak in the atmosphere and local charm, and grab a bite to eat at a nearby place.

Since everyone will be arriving on different flights—some earlier, some later—we will gather as a full group the next day.
2 DAY. Kathmandu
The morning begins with breakfast at our hotel. There’s no need to rush—we have a relaxed start to the day. Our main goal today is to get to know each other, check our clothing, gear, and equipment, and purchase anything that might be missing.

We will also take a walk through the city, visit some of the main landmarks, and climb the 365 steps to Swayambhunath Temple, where we’ll meet the local monkeys and browse for souvenirs. Then, we’ll head to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest and most sacred Buddhist sites. We will walk around it in a clockwise direction, spinning the mani prayer wheels as we go.

To take a break from the city’s hustle and bustle, we’ll have lunch in a cozy local restaurant. If time allows, we’ll take the Chandragiri cable car, which offers a stunning panoramic view of Kathmandu and the surrounding mountains. On a clear day, it’s even possible to see Everest from here.

Later in the afternoon, we will visit Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on both sides of the Bagmati River. Starting at 6:00 PM, you can witness the cremation ritual—a powerful and intense experience, not for the faint-hearted. Since this is an active temple complex and not a museum, ceremonies take place throughout the day, and the atmosphere is deeply moving.

In the evening, we’ll gather for dinner at a restaurant, spend time together, go over our plans for the upcoming days in the mountains, and then head back to the hotel to rest.

Day 3. KATHMANDU - LUKLA - PHAKDING (2680 m)
Early in the morning, we head to the airport for our flight to Lukla.

This place is famous for being one of the most dangerous airports in the world. A small aircraft, a short runway, and a steep drop-off—an adrenaline rush is guaranteed! Interestingly, the airport is named after the first climbers to reach Everest’s summit. On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay stood atop the highest peak on Earth.

Upon arrival, we’ll meet our porters and have a light snack before setting off on our first trekking segment. The hike is relatively easy—just 7 km (3–4 hours). We will follow the route from Lukla (2,800 m) to the small village of Phakding (2,680 m).

The adventure begins! 🚀

Distance: 7 km
Time: 3-4 hours

Day 4. PHAKDING - NAMCHE BAZAAR
(3441 m)
Today, we trek from Phakding (2,680 m) to Namche Bazaar (3,441 m).

This is a long and challenging, but incredibly rewarding day on the trail. The distance is 13 km, with an estimated trekking time of 6–7 hours.

One of today’s highlights is crossing the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, one of the highest hanging bridges in the world. Its railings are covered in prayer flags, a tradition believed to have originated with Buddha himself, who was the first to write prayers on fabric. It is said that as the wind passes through the flags, it carries the prayers up to the heavens.

The legacy of Sir Edmund Hillary is deeply significant for Nepal. His foundation has played a major role in the development of the Sagarmatha National Park and the region as a whole. The bridge, funded by his foundation, offers an incredible view of Taboche Peak (6,495 m).

The first part of the trek is relatively easy, with sections passing through dense forests. Along the way, we will pass through small villages, where we can take breaks, refill water, and grab a snack. We’ll also see prayer stones (mani walls) and spinning prayer wheels, which are an integral part of the local Buddhist culture.

The second part of the trail gets steeper, requiring more effort. However, the area remains well-inhabited, giving us a chance to observe local life, traditions, and daily routines.

As we approach Namche Bazaar, we will pass through a checkpoint, where our permits for entering Sagarmatha National Park will be checked.

Namche Bazaar is considered the capital of the Sherpa people and is one of the largest settlements in the region. We will be spending a few days here for acclimatization, giving us plenty of time to explore.

For the night, we will stay in a comfortable lodge-hotel to rest and prepare for the next stage of our journey.

Distance: 13 km
Time: 6-7 hours
Day 5. NAMCHE BAZAAR
Acclimatization and Rest Day in Namche Bazaar

Today is dedicated to rest and acclimatization. In the morning, we’ll have the opportunity to take a short hike to a viewpoint and watch the sunrise over the mountains. After breakfast, we will trek to the Everest View Hotel, where, in good weather, we can enjoy a breathtaking view of Everest.

Built at an altitude of 3,880 m, the Everest View Hotel is one of the highest five-star hotels in the world. Constructing such a hotel at this altitude in the 1960s was an incredible challenge. Most of the burden fell on porters, who had to carry all the necessary materials and equipment along a two-week trekking route to the construction site.

For those looking to explore further, we can also take a side hike to the Khumjung Monastery (3,780 m). According to legend, the monastery houses a 300-year-old Yeti scalp. While there are conflicting theories about its origin (some claim it’s actually made from Himalayan mountain goat fur), the visit is still a fascinating experience.

Acclimatization is much more effective when we stay active, so a day of light trekking will help us adapt to the altitude. Plus, from Khumjung village, where the monastery is located, we will have one of the most spectacular views of the stunning Ama Dablam.

Day Summary:
Total distance: 10–17 km
Maximum altitude: 3,905 m
Estimated time: ~7 hours
Day 6. NAMCHE BAZAAR
econd Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

Today is our second acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar (or a reserve day in case of flight delays from Lukla due to bad weather).

Depending on how everyone is feeling, we can take a side hike to Thame Monastery. Located away from the main tourist routes, Thame Monastery is one of the oldest in the Khumbu region, offering a peaceful and authentic experience.

Alternatively, we can simply rest in Namche Bazaar, explore the town, and take it easy. However, as we’ve mentioned before, staying active helps with acclimatization, so even a light walk around the area will be beneficial!

Distance: 20 km
Time: 7-8 hours
Day 7. NAMCHE BAZAAR - TENGBOCHE
(3867 m)
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867 m)

Today, we leave Namche Bazaar and continue our journey to Tengboche (3,867 m). This section of the trek is incredibly scenic, offering breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.

In the last photo, you can clearly see Everest (on the left) and Lhotse (on the right), with the South Col in between. This is the final staging camp for Everest climbers, located at an altitude of 7,906 m.

Upon reaching Tengboche, we will visit another mountainous Tibetan monastery, where we’ll have the chance to meditate with the monks. The monastery itself is charming and peaceful, but the surrounding views are truly spectacular.

Over the years, the Tengboche Monastery has faced destruction multiple times—first due to an earthquake, then later due to a fire. Restoration efforts were supported by the Hillary Foundation, among others.

It was here, in Tengboche, that the legendary Hillary-Norgay Expedition of 1953 set up one of its key camps before making history with the first successful ascent of Everest
Day 8. TENGBOCHE - DINGBOCHE (4360 m)
Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m)
We continue gradually gaining altitude as we make our way from Tengboche (3,867 m) to Dingboche (4,360 m). This is the second key point in our acclimatization program, so we take our time, moving at a comfortable pace and soaking in the stunning scenery.

Tonight, we stay in a lodge with breathtaking views of some of the region’s most iconic peaks:
• Lhotse (8,501 m)
• Ama Dablam (6,856 m)
• Island Peak (6,189 m)

Distance: 10 km
Time:5-6 hours
Day 9. DINGBOCHE (4360 m)
Acclimatization Day in the Dingboche Area

Today, we stay in Dingboche for an acclimatization hike. Our route will take us to the Chukhung Valley, and if the group is feeling strong, we may continue all the way to Island Peak Base Camp.

The trek covers about 5 km and will take 4–5 hours. At this altitude, the effects of the thin air become much more noticeable, so we will move at a steady, unhurried pace to allow our bodies to adapt properly.

Throughout the hike, we will be surrounded by majestic mountains, offering breathtaking views. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the serene, rugged beauty of the Himalayas.

Along the way, we will pass glaciers, mountain rivers, and dramatic gorges, and from an altitude of over 5,000 meters, we will enjoy stunning panoramic views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Makalu.

The main goal of the day is gradual acclimatization, so we will adjust the trek based on how the group is feeling. After our hike, we will return to Dingboche to rest and prepare for the next stage of our journey.

Distance: 5-7 km
Time: 4-6 hours
Day 10. DINGBOCHE (4360 m) - LOBUCHE (4930 m)
Crossing the Khumbu Glacier & Trek to Lobuche

Today, we will embark on an exciting trek across the famous Khumbu Glacier—the largest glacier in Nepal and one of the most challenging sections of the Everest route. As we ascend, the altitude will become even more noticeable, so we will take our time, walking at a slow, steady pace with plenty of breaks.

Our journey will take us to the village of Lobuche, where we will spend the night in the comfortable high-altitude lodge “Pyramid”. This lodge is not only a great place to rest, but it is also home to the Italian High Altitude Research Laboratory, where scientists study extreme mountain conditions.

Today’s trek is 7.6 km and will take approximately 5–6 hours. We will pause frequently to rest, take in the breathtaking views of the glaciers and towering peaks, and allow our bodies to continue adjusting to the altitude before the next stage of our journey.

Distance: 7.6 km
Time: 5-6 hours
Day 11. LOBUCHE - GORAK SHEP - EVEREST BASE CAMP (5364 m)
Summit Day – Everest Base Camp Trek
Today marks the highlight of our trek!

In the morning, we will take a short hike to the village of Gorak Shep (5,164 m), where we will stop for a quick meal and some rest.
From there, we will set off toward the ultimate goal of our journey – Everest Base Camp.

Gorak Shep was originally used as a base camp in the early days of Everest expeditions, but it was later relocated to the foot of the Khumbu Icefall.

The Everest Base Camp is truly an iconic location—a symbol of mountaineering culture. Here, we will fully immerse ourselves in the spirit of Everest, witness the famous expedition camps, and have the chance to get close to the Khumbu Glacier, capturing some epic photographs.
The trek from Gorak Shep to Khumbu takes 1.5–2 hours.

We will spend the night in Gorak Shep, resting after an unforgettable day.
Distance: 12 km
Time: 7-8 hours
Day 12. GORAK SHEP - FERICHE (4240 m)
Descent from Gorak Shep: The Journey Down with Everest in Our Hearts

After yesterday’s triumph, when we finally reached our goal—Everest Base Camp—we begin our gradual descent, filled with emotions, pride, and, of course, exhaustion.

Today’s trek covers 8.5 km, taking approximately 4–5 hours. The path back already feels familiar, yet the landscapes remain just as breathtaking. With every step, we carry the realization that we have become part of Everest’s great story.

But for the strongest and most determined, the morning offers a special opportunity—a sunrise hike to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,610 m), the highest point of our trek.

This additional ascent will take 3–4 extra hours and add 4.5 km to our journey, but the view from the top will make every step worth it. As the mountains awaken with the first light, the peaks of Everest and Nuptse glow in golden and fiery hues, bathed in the rising sun. It’s a moment of silence, strength, and pure inspiration.

After descending from Kala Patthar, we continue our journey toward Pheriche. The descent is easier, yet still requires effort and focus. At the end of the day, a cozy lodge, a warm cup of tea, and well-deserved rest await us.

Every step today will carry the deep realization that what once seemed like a distant dream has now become our reality.

Distance: 8.5 km (classic) 13 km (including hike to Kala Patthar)
Time: 5 hours (classic) 9 (including hike to Kala Patthar)
Day 13. FERICHE (4240 m) - NAMCHE BAZAAR (3441 m)
Return to Civilization: Warmth, Comfort, and Well-Deserved Rest
After long days in the mountains, trekking through glaciers, high-altitude passes, and remote villages, we finally begin our descent back to civilization. The path feels different now—our steps are lighter, the thin air is replaced by oxygen-rich freshness, and instead of icy winds, we are greeted by warmth and comfort.

Today, we cover 17 km, which will take about 6–7 hours. As we descend, we pass through familiar trails, but now they feel different. What once seemed like a challenge is now a cherished memory, filled with emotions and the realization of how much stronger we have become.

And then, Namche Bazaar appears in the distance—a true oasis of comfort in the Himalayas. Awaiting us is a cozy hotel, where we can finally relax, enjoy a long-awaited hot shower, and indulge in delicious, hearty food.

After days spent in simple mountain lodges, these little things take on a whole new meaning. A simple cup of hot tea becomes pure bliss, a soft bed feels like the ultimate luxury, and the sense of being back among people, sounds, scents, and warmth brings a special kind of joy.

In the evening, we can take a leisurely walk through Namche, browse local shops for souvenirs, or simply sit and watch the softly glowing lights of the village, reflecting on the majestic mountain landscapes that will stay in our hearts forever.

Distance: 17 km
Time: 6-7 hours
Day 14. NAMCHE BAZAAR (3441 m) - LUKLA (2800 m)
Final Day of the Trek: Returning to Lukla

Our great Himalayan adventure is coming to an end. Today, we complete our final trek, returning to where it all began—Lukla.

We will cover 17 km, taking between 6 to 8 hours. The descent feels familiar, the path easier, but the day is filled with a special kind of emotion. Looking back, we realize the incredible journey we have undertaken—from the lush forests of the lower valleys to the snowy glaciers and towering peaks of Everest.

As we pass through familiar villages, we can once again observe local life, but now with a new perspective, shaped by the experiences and discoveries of our adventure.

Finally, Lukla welcomes us back, offering warm lodges, comfort, and a sense of accomplishment. Here, we celebrate the completion of our journey, enjoy our last evening in the mountains, and share the memories that will stay with us forever.

Distance: 17 km
Time: 6-8 hours
Day 15. RETURN TO KATHMANDU
Flight Over the Himalayas

This morning, we take a direct flight to Kathmandu or Ramechhap, followed by a transfer to the capital. And, of course, just like everything in this adventure, this flight comes with a final dose of adrenaline—as we take off from Lukla’s legendary short runway, giving our nerves one last thrill!

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we check into our hotel, where we can finally unwind, relax, and enjoy some well-deserved comfort.

The rest of the day is free time—a chance to explore the city, visit local markets for souvenirs, or simply enjoy the feeling of peace and reflection after an unforgettable journey in the mountains.
Day 16. RESERVE DAY IN KATHMANDU
Reserve Day in Kathmandu: A Backup Plan or More Discoveries

This day is reserved in case of flight delays from Lukla due to bad weather. However, if we arrive in Kathmandu as planned, we’ll have a wonderful opportunity to explore more of the city and its surroundings.

• Nagarkot – a picturesque mountain resort known for its breathtaking Himalayan panoramas.
